All Eyes Are on Chinese Cities for the 2008 Olympics

This August, all eyes will be on Beijing as it hosts the 2008 Summer Olympics, and they will be dazzled! China's capital city has completely changed its face for these big games.

Beijing is mostly known to the world for its historic buildings and landmarks. Students in faraway countries study the architecture of the Forbidden City or the capital's many ancient temples. Each year, tourists come from around the globe to walk along the Great Wall and experience Beijing's rich cultural heritage.

Now there is something new to see. For the 2008 games, many modern buildings and sports centers have been built all over Beijing. The Chinese government has spent billions of dollars and hired the world's most famous architects to change the capital into a 21st-century city for the Olympic Games.
