Albert Einstein was more than a man -- he was a genius. For his achievements in physics, he was awarded the Nobel Prize, and TIME magazine voted him Man of the Century in 1999.

Born to Jewish parents in Germany on March 14, 1879, Einstein did not show early signs of his genius. He was three years old before he began to talk, and his teachers thought that he was below average. If he was not interested in a subject, he would barely listen. When he found something that excited him, though, nothing could break his focus.
